This post contains spoilers about Netflix's Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.

LOS ANGELES -- Last we saw Doyle, the feminist and former Yale Daily Newseditor was ready to go anywhere with girlfriend/partner/love of life Paris Geller.

Sadly, in Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, we find out that Doyle and Paris' romance has come to an end and the two are in the process of getting a divorce.

The reason? Doyle (Danny Strong) has gone Hollywood.

"Frankly it was over the minute he wanted to do something creative," Paris (Liza Weil) tells Rory (Alexis Bledel) as they are catching up in Stars Hollow in part one of the revival, titled "Winter."

"In real life, that Hollywood career path for Strong also stuck. "

"Well, he's a screenwriter now, Rory. Have you been to the movies lately? Suddenly he's in jeans, and wearing faded $200 rock t-shirts with bands on them he's never seen. He's flying out to the coast, as if this is not a coast. He drinks vodka because it has less carbs. And then he started selling things so I realized, 'Oh this is going to stick.'"

In real life, that Hollywood career path for Strong also stuck.

Yes, he acted on Gilmore Girls,Buffy the Vampire Slayer and other shows and movies. But Strong, who won two Emmys, has become known for his writing. He helped pen Recount, HBO's Game Change, Lee Daniels' The Butler and the final two Hunger Gamesmovies.

Oh right, he also co-created Fox's hit musical show Empire.

Later, we see Doyle calling Rory after she edits a review of Jungle Book which he wrote for the Stars Hollow Gazette. He complains about her edits, noting that he's writing a couple things for Michael Bay who is "really into adjectives."

"Are you saying I'm a sellout?" Doyle says. "Because I played Snooker at [Michael Bay's] house last night and he's a really cool guy."

In the second episode, we learn that Paris lives in a five-floor townhouse in New York and has two kids with Doyle, plus a nanny who hates going up and down stairs.

She and Doyle are still in the process of getting divorced, and he pops by to drop the kids off.

They argue, much like they did when they were editors together, but sadly it's unclear whether their chemistry will make them rethink that divorce.

Don't worry: Powerhouse Paris is fine running a fertility clinic that also offers legal services (because she ended up getting a law degree and going to med school).

And at least Doyle's got Hollywood.
